One of our top burger spots in NYC is Umami Burger in the West Village. Originally from California, this restaurant opened its doors in NYC in 2013 with lots of hype. The decor of the location signals trendy while keeping the experience casual. Umami Burger is a solid spot if you’re looking for affordable gourmet burgers with plenty of taste.
A must order for appetizers is the Sweet Potato Maple Bacon fries. The portion size of this order is generous and the taste is sweet with a caramelized like texture. There are also bits of maple bacon sprinkled on the fries. 3 different dipping sauces including chipotle mayo.
One of our favorites was the Truffle Burger which consisted of truffled aioli, house truffle cheese, and truffle glaze. If you love truffle then you must give this a try. The burger was tenderly cooked, the branded logo bun was soft, and the truffle sauce was a killer in tickling your palate. Needless to say there is plenty of flavor. Our only wish was that it could have been bigger.
We also ordered the Umami burger featuring parmesan, caramelized onions, shiitake mushroom, roasted tomato, caramelized onions, and Umami ketchup. The namesake burger is a solid choice but does not reach the taste level of the Truffle Burger. Let us know where your favorite burger spot is and we’ll make sure to give it a try!
