Himalayan Yak

Right off the Jackson Heights 74th street station is a little neighborhood rich in Tibetan and Nepalese culture.  You can find momos or Tibetan dumplings from food trucks/carts on many street corners as well as in the various restaurants.  However, we believe you should check out Himalayan Yak for some of the best.

We recently tried out Himalayan Yak, which can be found right on Roosevelt Avenue, and came away impressed with their authentic food and decorative exterior/interior.First thing you will notice is the authentic looking front door and signage.  The cultural experience expands to the utensils (cups and plates) to the live musical performances that occur on scheduled nights.

Definitely check out the yak momos, both rich in flavor and portion!  We opted for half steamed and half fried.  In addition, we ordered chicken lollipos and the goat Thali, a traditional Nepali dish, that includes rice, lentil soup, vegetable curry, and kheer or sweet rice pudding.
